We sat at the bar. Alex smiled & the rest is a memory for a lifetime. The food, drink & company were spectacular! We started with the oysters, drinks & conversation, dined on seared ahi & a crustration rice dish Poelee De La Mar, which was like a French paella, but even better. We topped our main course with the tart trio & a late harvest dolce that made my toes quiver... our Wait staff were attentive, but not overly anything, just right. Oh! & Alex tossed in the puffed pastry dessert, just because I chose the tarts over my wife’s incling... we’ll be back, the next time we want to fine dine... this will be a special occassion place for us... Highly Recommend it.

Great dinner and delicious food. Starting with the steamed Manila clams and Ahi Tataki. Then the Misoyaki Sea Bass and Scallops Pappaedelle with the pee-wee potatoes and some sauteed vegetables. Dessert was the Basque Cheesecake and a trio sample of Gelato We were san reservations, but they were able to seat us at the bar. Great service for the bar staff. Highpoint: That Misoyaki Sea Bass was perfect. Delicious crispy skin. And the miso-caramel sauce was spot on. Bacon Old-fashioned... OMG Delicious, bacon washed Whistle Pig Old-fashioned topped with a slab of pork-belly bacon. Setbacks: Rice. Geeze, medium grain white rice, should not be al dente. At least not in Hawaii. Basque Cheesecake was much drier than I would prefer. And maybe it's a personal viewpoint, but it wasn't moist or custard-like at all. The steamed clams were alright, nothing I'd order again.

Such a beautiful restaurant and a lovely location for my grandmas birthday dinner. Thanks for making it memorable everyone! All of the staff were extremely friendly, informative, and punctual and ensured we were given a lovely dinner. My family ordered the Spanish Octopus and French Onion soup to start and they were delicious! The octopus was tender, a little spicy and had a beautiful chimchurri on top providing exquisite flavor and tang. The French onion soup was boiling hot, cheesy and flavorful. For the main course, I ordered the seared ahi and my son ordered the kids Mac and cheese. The seared ahi had the perfect sear with it being rare on the inside, the perfect texture for it. The accompanying brussel sprouts and potato’s were deliciously seasoned and I couldn’t get enough of it! Even the kids Mac and cheese was heavenly. The French fries were perfectly crisp and the Mac and cheese was cheesy and delicious! I was able to try my mom’s misoyaki sea bass and that was deliciously tender and the misoyaki sauce was mild yet potent in flavor. Everyone else loved their dishes as well as all the plates were practically licked clean. At the end, they brought out the cake we brought, and they were able to store for us, and we were able to sing happy birthday to grandma and they offered to cut and serve the cake for us as well. Even taking a group picture for our family. Overall a truly memorable and wonderful experience for us and my grandma enjoyed her birthday. Thank you everyone!

Really great quality drinks, food and service. I highly recommend this restaurant. It was recommended to me by my colleagues who are local and I fully understand why it is so highly rated. I had the misso bass, pear salad and a cocktail with egg whites. I have variations of this combo often and can honestly say this restaurant blew it out of the park! They provided nice twists on classic dishes. Parking was easy.

The Upstairs at Pier 38 was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a finer dining sea food restaurant. Upstairs offers that with a French influence. We sat at the chef's counter on a Thursday night. You sit next to a large window looking into the kitchen which gave some fun views of all the dishes coming out. The chef, Nathaniel, came out several times to speak with us and give us some extra food items including an oyster with beef tartare served on the half shell with the oyster being tempura fried. He also provided us later with a scallop over a cauliflower puree and a cilantro salsa. He did a much better job explaining the ingredients than I'm doing right now, but suffice it to say that both dishes were excellent flavorful dishes. My spouse ordered the bone in pork chop with herbed goat cheese. The dish was very savory. You can't go wrong with the pork chop. I had the crusted ahi tuna. It was not as savory, but was definitely a more complex dish. It was also excellent. We also had the French onion soup. I'm not sure how they kept some of the bread crispy even in the soup, but it was very good. The bartenders and other servers helped to keep our drinks filled. Loaf, (hope I'm spelling that right) our server, was a pleasure to speak with and very knowledgeable of the menu. We were very impressed with the service, atmosphere, and food. If you're looking for a finer dining experience in Oahu, check out the Upstairs at Pier 38.
